Why 360 Hunting Blinds are some of our Favorite Turkey Hunting Tools

Turkey hunting purists will tell you it's not really turkey hunting if you're sitting in a blind. Respectfully, we disagree. When the season is open and you've got a tag in your pocket, turkey hunting is turkey hunting — period.

We have grown to love our 360 Hunting Blinds as a legitimate tool in our turkey hunting arsenal, and this spring we want to share exactly why.

We Always Have a Plan B

Don't get us wrong — there's nothing quite like slipping into the dark timber before first light and getting set up on a roosted tom. That morning adrenaline is hard to beat. But anyone who has chased spring gobblers long enough knows the hens have a way of pulling those toms in the wrong direction. When that happens, we don't pack it in. We have a plan B, and it almost always involves a 360 Hunting Blind.

We set our blinds on the edges of food plots — grain fields, alfalfa, clover, and open pastures. Turkeys love to work these areas throughout the day, and we've even installed Earth Ponds near several of our blinds. Let me tell you, turkeys cannot resist water. That combination creates consistent all day movement in front of the blind, and if you're patient, a longbeard will eventually show up on his own terms. Late morning, after the toms have broken away from the hens, is one of the most productive windows of the entire season and the perfect time to be sitting tight in a well placed blind.

Weather Proof and Bug Proof

Spring turkey season in Illinois means one thing — unpredictable weather. On one of our recent hunts, we dealt with overnight storms and 40 mph sustained wind gusts by morning. Sitting against a tree in those conditions isn't just uncomfortable, it can be dangerous. Inside our 360 blind, we were warm, dry, and completely out of the wind. It made what could have been a miserable morning into a great one.

And then there are the bugs. Ticks, mosquitoes, and buffalo gnats are a very real problem in southern Illinois during the spring season. When the buffalo gnats get bad in the later weeks of the season, they will run you out of the woods if you're not protected. We've found that being inside a 360 Hunting Blind is genuinely one of the best ways to keep hunting when everyone else has called it a day.

The Perfect Family Hunt

One of our favorite things about turkey hunting out of a 360 blind is that you can bring the whole family. The kids can move around, get comfortable, and just be kids without blowing the hunt. The blind muffles the noise, keeps them engaged, and turns a long morning sit into an adventure they actually want to repeat.

We have personally used our blinds to get young hunters into the field for the first time, and we've received photos and videos from customers who have done the same — kids smiling ear to ear over their first turkey, taken from a 360 Hunting Blind. Those messages never get old.

A Well Placed Blind Is a Dangerous Place to Be a Turkey

If you've been on the fence about incorporating a hunting blind into your spring turkey setup, we hope this changes your mind. A 360 Hunting Blind positioned on the right food source, near water, with a little patience — that's a recipe that works. We've seen it over and over again on our farms, and our customers have too.
